St Kew Inn is one of Cornwall’s hidden gems. Tucked away in the village of St Kew, it’s here you’ll find a classically Cornish pub serving delicious food.

One Saturday, while staying nearby at Tom’s Cottage, myself and my sister opted to have a relaxed weekend lunch at St Kew Inn. I’ve certainly driven past before but this was my first visit here.
St Kew Inn is in the parish of St Kew, about 20 minutes from Bodmin. It’s a peaceful location, surrounded by a smattering of cottages and plenty of greenery. It’s the perfect place to devour tasty mouthwatering food and sip a glass of wine by the traditional fireplace.

The pub itself is a large building with plenty of parking. Inside, there’s lots of original features synonymous with traditional Cornish pubs. It’s smart, spacious and homely, all at the same time. We sat in the bar but there are separate dining rooms where the morning light drenches the interiors with a golden glow.

The Menu and Lunch at St Kew Inn
The menu at St Kew Inn is curated with locally sourced food in mind. There’s plenty of meat and fish on the menu, and options for those who are vegetarian.
We decided to have the Cornish mussels, thyme and garlic cream sauce, skinny fries and bread and the St Kew cheeseburger, brisket, braised sirloin, relish, salad and fries. Rather than have a dish each, we had half and half, basically because we were both toying between these 2 dishes. To drink, I kept it simple with a lime and soda and Lisa also had a soft drink.

The food was amazing. The mussels were plump and juicy. The portion of fries and chunky bread that accompanied them were plentiful. In fact, both dishes were generous and so tasty.
For me, the star of the show was the burger. It was huge and tasted so good. The patty was thick and to top it off with beef brisket was a match made in heaven. I was a bit concerned about getting it in my mouth, but I managed! 😂
Our visit was on a Saturday but we both agreed that the St Kew Inn would be a great shout for Sunday lunch.
We left the St Kew Inn fuelled and ready to roam around Port Isaac, only about 10 minutes away. If you’re wanting a local coastal walk (that’s somewhat strenuous), this circular route takes you from Port Isaac to Port Quin.
